The short version: we collect what we need to quote the job, get into the building, do the job and invoice it. We do not sell it, and we do not hand it to anyone you have not asked us to.
This page explains what personal information TV Installers collects, why we collect it, who else sees it, and what you can ask us to do with it. It is written in plain language on purpose. If anything here is unclear, email tvinstallersgta@gmail.com or call 289-475-5175 and ask.
What we collect
To book and carry out an installation we need:
- Your name.
- A phone number and usually an email address, so we can confirm the appointment and tell you if the installer is running late.
- The installation address.
- Access notes for the building, where they apply. In a condo or an office this can include a unit number, a buzzer code, parking instructions, whether the service lift needs booking, and the name of a concierge or property manager.
- Details of the screen and the wall. Make, model, screen size, bracket type, and what the wall is made of.
- Photographs of the finished work, where they are relevant. These are taken to record the fixings used and the condition of the wall, and sometimes to show you what was done behind the screen. They are not published anywhere without asking you first.
We do not ask for and do not want your date of birth, your banking details, your social insurance number, or anything about your household beyond what the job requires.
Why we collect it
Every item above exists because the work needs it. The address and the access notes get the installer to the right door with the right equipment. The screen and wall details decide the bracket, the anchors and the drill that come in the van, and they are the basis of the quote we give you before anyone drills. The phone number and email are how we confirm, reschedule and follow up. The photographs are a record of how the screen was fixed, which matters if you ever call us back about it.
Consent
Consent is the basis on which we handle your information. You give it when you book, when you call, or when you send us details of a job. We take it to cover the installation you asked for and any follow up about that installation, and nothing else. We do not add you to a mailing list, we do not sell or rent contact details to anyone, and we do not use your information to market unrelated products.
Who we share it with
Nobody, with one exception. If you pay by card, the payment is handled by a third party payment processor, and that processor receives what it needs to take the payment. We do not see or store your full card number. Beyond that, your information stays with us. We do not pass it to advertisers, lead generators, directories or data brokers.
The one other situation is a legal one: if we were required by law or by a court order to disclose information, we would comply. That has nothing to do with marketing and we would not pretend otherwise.
How long we keep it
We keep job records for as long as we have a reasonable business reason to, which mainly means being able to answer a question about an installation we carried out and meeting our tax and accounting obligations. When a record no longer serves either purpose, it is deleted. If you want your information removed sooner, ask us.
The website
Like almost every website, this one sits on a server that keeps logs. Those logs record things like the page requested, the time, the browser type and an IP address. We use analytics in aggregate, meaning we look at how many people visited a page and roughly where in the GTA they came from, not at what any individual person did. We do not build profiles of visitors and we do not run advertising trackers that follow you to other sites.
Your rights under PIPEDA
Canadian federal privacy law gives you rights over your own information, and they apply here:
- Access. You can ask what personal information we hold about you and get a copy of it.
- Correction. If something we hold is wrong, you can ask us to fix it, and we will.
- Withdrawal. You can withdraw your consent. If you do that before the job, we will not be able to carry out the installation, because we cannot install a screen without an address. If you do it afterwards, we delete what we are not legally required to keep.
How to exercise them
Email tvinstallersgta@gmail.com or call 289-475-5175 and say what you want. Ask for your records, ask for a correction, ask us to delete something, or ask a question about this page. We will confirm who you are first, since we are not going to hand somebody else your address, and then we will deal with the request.
If you are not satisfied with how we handle it, you can take a complaint to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Anything here you want to ask about, email tvinstallersgta@gmail.com or call 289-475-5175.
